This session aims to provide a practical community example and highlight lessons learned in implementing a parallel coordinated entry system and comparable database for victim service providers (VSPs) within a Continuum of Care (CoC). The speakers offer several different perspectives from the local VSP awarded DV Bonus funds to implement parallel coordinated entry. Session speakers will outline the contextual knowledge of a suburban and urban CoC with multiple victim service providers and the pre-existing dynamics and barriers inherited when designing a parallel coordinated entry system. From the course of four years since the funds were initially awarded, the speakers offer tangible action steps on how HMIS administrators can engage and support VSPs effectively with data collection and reporting as VSPs begin this work and throughout implementation. The speakers will also reflect on the evolution of their agency’s own capacities to produce required reports for HUD funds while also balancing trauma-informed approaches to working with survivors.
