After years of fighting with our HMIS software vendor (and trying to hold them accountable per HUD recommendations), we decided to put out an RFP for new software, and we made the difficult decision to switch (during a global pandemic.) Join us to discuss the real costs ($ costs, staff time, etc.) and benefits. Are we glad we made the change? (Yes.) Have we reached happily ever after? (No.) We’ll discuss how we used the export process as an opportunity to improve data quality and completeness in the new system, and how this change has impacted system administrator workload and HMIS staff priorities. We’ll also talk about the areas where we think ALL HMIS vendors are struggling – how can we advocate for better software overall?
