Spokane, WA teamed up with a local university, our central library, urban planners and data scientists to produce a 2022 point--in-time count report that was interactive using ArcGIS Story Map.

HUD-VASH, a veteran-dedicated Permanent Supportive Housing program, is a targeted Veteran Affairs (VA) program in the Federal “All In” Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness. Integrating HUD-VASH data into HMIS aligns with all three foundational pillars presented in the “All In” plan: 1) Lead with equity; 2) Use data and evidence to make decisions; 3) Collaborate at all levels.

The City of Boston recently increased its system-wide data quality from 76.8% to 92.4% - an increase of 15% across the board – and achieved a new level of data maturity that is directly impacting the decision making of both providers and funders.

With a recent influx of resources to specifcally address unsheltered homelessness, systems and users need to be prepared for the unique issues presented with data collection on unsheltered persons. In many coordinated entry systems, clients scoring for RRH and PSH usually get a lot of attention based on their high level of needs. For clients with low needs, they can end up at the bottom of the prioritization list and end up with a very long length of time remaining homeless.
